Colour on the Island

It’s as if colours on the Island are brighter, richer - the greens more lush, the jewel tones more saturated

There must be thousands of shades of green on Grand Manan Island. The mosses alone are of such a wide variety, it is difficult to keep track of them all. Lupins, colourful sentinels and symbols of the Maritimes, dress up the landscape, as do wild iris spilling into meadows filled with dew.

Meadow in Grand Manan

If you visit one of the Island’s beaches or coves, you will encounter stones, rocks and boulders of many hues and textures. Even magnetic sand! These riches are all the result of the Island’s unusual geology.
